VeRelief is a non-invasive vagus nerve activation tool intended to calm anxiousness, racing thoughts, or improve how you feel almost immediately. VeRelief uses mild electrical impulses to stimulate the vagus and great auricular nerves in and around the ear area. This method immediately activates the parasympathetic response, the body’s natural relaxation response, and leads to a rapid calming effect and a pleasant buzz felt throughout the upper body. Daily use can improve vagal tone which trains the body to be more resilient to high-stress situations.

Stop Anxiousness in its Tracks

We all experience stressors on a daily basis. Often those stressors produce feelings of anxiousness and if left unchecked, those feelings can quickly rise and lead to a sudden anxiety attack. It is a painful experience that can disrupt life’s most important moments.

To reduce the severity of an anxiety episode or prevent an anxiety attack, one must have the ability to quickly reduce feelings of anxiousness before they get out of control.
VeRelief is a powerful neurotechnology demonstrated to reduce feelings of anxiousness in 10 minutes or less.

Face your Daily Stressors with Confidence

We all experience stressors on a daily basis. Often those stressors produce feelings of anxiousness and if left unchecked, those feelings can quickly lead to a sudden anxiety attack. It is a painful experience that can disrupt life’s most important moments.
VeRelief is a powerful neurotechnology demonstrated to reduce feelings of anxiousness in 10 minutes or less.

Designed with Purpose

The VeRelief electrical nerve stimulator was designed to be powerful, portable, easy-to-use, and multipurpose in its nature. It uses custom dry gel electrodes called Veragels that can comfortably deliver electrical stimulation to any nerve in the body just underneath the skin. Originally designed to target the Auricular Vagus Nerve on the side of the neck to quickly reduce anxiousness, it is also capable of stimulating other nerve targets for other health applications such as the Trigeminal Nerve and the Median Nerve.  See our "Research" page for more information.

VeRelief is technologically identical to the P57 ONE, a medical device that is being evaluated by the FDA for mental health applications. The P57 ONE is not currently available for sale and only available through one of our clinical studies.

Designed with Purpose

VeRelief was developed by Nicholas Hool, Ph.D. in the biomedical engineering program at Arizona State University. Hool experienced frequent episodes of performance anxiety during his competitive golf career and was frustrated by the lack of drug-free solutions that could quickly reduce his feelings of anxiousness. So he built the VeRelief neurostimulator.

VeRelief is technologically identical to the P57 ONE, a medical device that is being evaluated by the FDA for mental health medical applications. The P57 ONE is not currently available for sale.

VeRelief Private Release Overview

VeRelief is currently available exclusively through a private release program. Private release participants will receive a VeRelief device, a box of 10 Veragel electrodes, and supporting materials. Participants will receive a card that allows them to schedule a call with our customer support team at any time they like and as many times as they need. Participants will also be added to our list of early adopters who will receive early access to new product features and add-ons as we make product improvements over time.

Participants may receive a full refund if they return the VeRelief device along with its supporting materials (except for any used electrodes) within 60 days.

We surveyed 291 patients across the country who frequently experience anxiety episodes. We found that the top three methods patients use to manage their anxiety are Counseling Therapy, followed by Antidepressants, and followed by Mindfulness or Meditation practices. Respondents reported their average Out-of-Pocket costs associated with each treatment. 83% of respondents reported having anxiety for more than 5 years.

Presented is a comparison of costs associated with using each of the top three treatments and the VeRelief product over a 5-year period.

How does the treatment work?

VeRelief uses a technology called transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). This is a method that applies small electric currents to the skin over a target (vagus) nerve for the purpose of activating a neurophysiological response. VeRelief electrically activates the vagus and great auricular nerves on the neck and around the ear area, but can also be used to target other nerves like the trigeminal nerve or median nerve.

The vagus nerve synapses in the nucleus of the solitary tract in the brainstem, which then communicates with the Locus Coeruleus, which then communicates with regions in the limbic system and reticular activating system. These regions control our emotional and cognitive processing abilities.

Stimulating the auricular branch of the vagus nerve activates this neural pathway in the brain. The brain then sends a signal via the efferent branch of the vagus nerve down to the body telling it to reduce sympathetic output (stress levels) and increase HRV, which rapidly reduces anxious feelings.  See this article for additional information on how vagal nerve stimulation can help reduce anxiety symptoms.

For more information about the mechanism of action, submit an inquire to request our product whitepaper with full product specifications and clinical research.

How should VeRelief be used?

VeRelief should be used as soon as you start experiencing anxiousness or are looking to quickly calm down from an agitated or hyperactive state of mind, such as before work, during an important task, after a tough game or workday, during travel, before a family event, before bed, or any other areas in life adversely affected by a poor mental state.

Relief is typically experienced within minutes, but the device may be used for as long and as often as desired throughout the day.

VeRelief may also be used for 5-10 minutes first thing in the morning and first thing before bed for general improvements to vagal tone, which have lasting positive effects on health, wellness, and physical and mental resilience.

Is the treatment safe?

Side effects of transcutaneous auricular vagal nerve stimulation have been demonstrated to be low risk and similar to side effects of standard TENS devices. Side effects may include skin itching or irritation, discomfort during treatment, dizziness, blurred vision, headache, or fatigue.

VeRelief uses an output about 10x lower than other prescription electrical nerve stimulators, and has been demonstrated to be a safe and tolerable output level in independent research. Hoolest has also conducted 3 IRB approved sham-controlled studies that demonstrated the treatment to be safe and tolerable in patients experiencing moderate to severe anxiousness.

For clinical research reports, submit our form and inquire about receiving our full product whitepaper.

How long should I use the device?

It is recommended to use the device for up to 10 minutes, but it may be used for longer if anxiousness does not subside.

How long do the Veragel Electrodes last?

The Veragel electrodes will last at least 2 days after they have been removed from their packaging. Use the Cap to protect the Veragels from external debris or from drying out quickly as they are stored in the device.

Day 1: Veragel electrodes will be fresh and will provide the most comfortable treatment experience.
Day 2: Veragel electrodes will have shrunk slightly and may be sharper and more prickly than the previous day, but still perfectly functional.
Day 3 and Beyond: Veragel electrodes are likely too small to apply treatment comfortably and should be discarded.

Veragels have a 90-day shelf life from the day of manufacture. Keep them stored in a refrigerator to extend the shelf life up to 1 year.
